PERCUSSION LESSONS

Studio Policies

Private Studio Locations:  The primary teaching studio of Trevor Barroero is now located in Central Tucson, however Trevor also occasionally teaches lessons at the Tucson Symphony Center (6th Ave & Grant) along with flexible virtual options (see below).

Virtual Lessons: A majority of Trevor's students live outside of Arizona and are currently enrolled in Virtual Lessons.  Students partaking in Virtual Lessons (via Zoom) have the added flexibility of staying at home and performing on their own instruments for each lesson.  Trevor's virtual students have reported no diminishment in quality of instruction and continue to win auditions, competitions, and scholarships.  Trevor's current professional virtual lesson setup utilizes 5 camera angles, professional screen sharing, and multiple pairs of studio condenser microphones to fully immerse the student in an "in-person" lesson environment from the comfort of their own home!  Please reach out using the provided contact form to see if virtual lessons are the right option for you!!

Areas of Study:  Students will develop skills on snare drum, drum set, mallet percussion (marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel), timpani, marching percussion, world percussion, and auxiliary percussion.

While each student may choose to specialize on a particular instrument later in their studies, this studio thrives on the concept of Total Percussion.

Practice: ALL students are expected to practice regularly and diligently.  The amount of time to be practiced daily will be discussed individually with each student / parent.  It is expected that the student will journal their daily practice in a detailed manner.  This journal is designed to organize the student's work, track learning curves, and improve efficiency.  Each entry should include the date, minutes spent, instrument practiced, tempo ranges, number of repetitions (as appropriate), and any other details pertinent to that practice session.  The more detail the student includes, the more can be learned from this journal.  The student must dedicate a notebook to this exclusive use.
